Innovation and diversification are key elements of a successful business, and there's no better way to understand these concepts than through a hands-on experience. Today, NGen and Canada Makes took the Formnext delegation on a tour of Rosswag Engineering, a family-run business that exemplifies these principles in the world of manufacturing. During the tour, the delegates had the opportunity to explore the various facets of Rosswag Engineering's operations, which include additive manufacturing, subtractive manufacturing, forging, and powder manufacturing.

It was fascinating to learn that Rosswag doesn’t just plan for quarters or years, but generations. As a family run business, they have been able to continue their core business of forging but build out other technologies as new generations shape the future of the company. The adoption of Additive manufacturing to the business model was led by Dr. Sven Donisi, CEO, and Gregor Graf, Head of Engineering in 2014 to bring this technology to life for their clients. In commissioning SLM machines and having an in-house powder atomizer, Rosswag Engineering is that the forefront of propelling additive manufacturing.

During our tour of Rosswag Engineering, we were not only exposed to their impressive additive manufacturing capabilities but also had the privilege of witnessing their expertise in forging and subtractive manufacturing. What makes Rosswag truly exceptional is their ability to seamlessly integrate these traditional and modern techniques. They have not only mastered these individual manufacturing methods but have also harnessed the synergies between forging and 3D printing, for a hybrid approach that combines the strength and durability of forged components with the intricate customization afforded by additive manufacturing. This innovative hybrid additive manufacturing process is a testament to Rosswag's ability to capitalize on the best of both worlds and provide customers with unique, high-quality solutions.
